DEEP SEA DIVERS DEN INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAM
The program involves working for a period
of 45 days on our day or overnight boats, comprising of lots of
hands-on-experience assisting in the running of a dive vessel
and in return you receive a free Instructor Development course and
all required PADI IDC materials. We have 5 spots in the program
available, and we will place the most suitable candidates in this
position.
You will gain valuable experience that will
prepare you in the best way possible for the Instructor Development
Course and the Instructor Examination. The experience gained during
your time with us will also make you far more attractive for any
future employers. Deep Sea Divers Den is one of the largest dive
schools in Australia. We conduct all levels of courses in English,
Japanese and German. We also run 2 day-boats to the Outer Barrier
Reef and have our liveaboard dive vessel permanently moored out
there.
By entering into the Instructor Training
Program you will gain experience on our day boat ReefQuest
by:
- Help running the back
deck (logging divers in/out, lookout duties etc)
- Controlling all diving
activities
- Acting as a dive guide
- Acting as a snorkel
guide
On our liveaboard boat OceanQuest you will
gain experience in the above mentioned PLUS
- Assisting dive instructors
with their courses
- General boat drills
and procedures
Deep Sea Divers Den also has a fully stocked
retail shop and service department. As part of the course you also
learn valuable skills in the workshop:
- Assistant to the Workshop
Manager
- Servicing and maintenance
of rental equipment
- Improving general knowledge
of dive equipment
We start English Open Water Courses 7 days
a week, German courses twice and Japanese courses 4 times a week.
You will be assisting instructors in the pool in all aspects of
dive training and again gain valuable experience interacting with
student divers of all nationalities and walks of life.
Deep Sea Divers Den has a great team of
Instructors and Course Directors (Instructor Trainers). Everyone
is very friendly and helpful and will assist you as much as possible
in achieving your goals. Our indoor pool is always at your disposal
for practicing your skills during the quiet hours. We require you
to always act in a professional manner with customer service and
safety foremost in mind.
PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS
All dive staff have to follow PADI standards
and procedures, the Workplace Health and Safety Code of Practice
and the Company's Operation Manual (which you will have to read
and sign for). Once selected, Trainees are required to wear a staff
uniform, which will be provided at staff price. You will need to
provide:
- Professional Dive Medical
according to Australian Standards 2299
- Proof of your Divemaster
Certification
- Proof of Professional
Indemnity Insurance
- Proof of personal medical
insurance (Travel Insurance)
Dive equipment in our shop and equipment service
in our workshop will be provided at discounted prices. For every day
spent in training you will receive a $70.00 credit that can be redeemed
against Instructor level programs and PADI materials. (IDC, Pro Pack
and all PADI materials = 45 days credit). The PRO PACK course is compulsory
simply because it is the best IE preparation possible. (The employee-credit
may not be applied towards the cost of the PADI IE and PADI registration
fees).
- You will have to be
able to support yourself during the Training Program, as there
is no cash payment
- We will endeavour to
place you on a roster of 5 days per week but due to the nature
of the industry we cannot guarantee this every week
- We will not guarantee
you a job at the end of the program but we are very proud to say
that all Instructors having come through our program are employed,
either by us or other dive operators
