PADI REFERRAL COURSES

The PADI referral system enables you to complete your PADI Open Water Dive Course with us in Cairns, Australia.

The system works as follows:

When you have completed the Academic training and Confined Water training portions of the PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE, ask your instructor for the following documents:

1. PADI Referral form (less than 12 months old)
2. Copy of your completed PADI Medical Questionnaire
3. Medical Certificate stating you are fit to dive
4. Medical Certificate must be less than 90 days old and to Australian Standard AS4005.1 (See below for more information on medicals)

Choose from one of the following options for your Open Water Training:

For all trips, city pick-up transfers are included (Northern Beaches can be arranged at a small addtional cost).

4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS LIVEABOARD REFERRAL:

Twin share $985, Double $1015 Prices valid until 31st March 2009.

13 Dives (4 OW training dives and 5 AOW training dives and 4 pleasure dives, including a guided night dive)
3 Nights accommodation onboard OceanQuest, all meals included
Pick-up on day 1 is at 7:45am
Drop-off on day 4 is at 5:00pm

TWIN SHARE - These private cabins contain two full size single beds, private en-suite, air-conditioning TV and intercom.

NON PADI REFERRALS:
If you have completed the academic and confined water training with a certifying agency other than PADI, we are generally able to convert your training and issue with a PADI Open Water Diver Certification. Further training will be required however, at least one day PADI Scuba Review Program with a private instructor. ( Additional charges apply).

NOTE REGARDING MEDICAL CERTIFICATE:
According to the recommendation of the Australian Code of Practice for Recreational Diving and Snorkelling, all divers are to undergo a medical examination according to Australian Standard AS4005.1, conducted by a doctor with training in hyperbaric medicine.

**Medical statements MUST be less than 90 days old!!

Since diver training is conducted in large numbers in Cairns, Australia, such an examination is relatively inexpensive and easy to arrange. In fact, we have a hyperbaric Qualified Doctor who attends our training facility several hours everyday for this purpose. If you would like for us to arrange a medical examination, please advise us and remember to arrive one day earlier to facilitate the examination. (Check in is at 08:30am everyday, medical examinations are conducted between 10:30am and 12:00pm). If you are only doing the "Pool and Theory" referral, the medical examination can be conducted on the first day of your course.
The current cost of this examination is AUD$55 .

Generally, most students pass the Medical Examination without any difficulty. There are however some CONTRA -INDICATIONS for scuba diving. If you have ever suffered from any of the following conditions, you are UNLIKELY to pass the medical examination here:

PNEUMOTHORAX
EPILEPSY
HEART SURGERY
DIABETES REQUIRING INSULIN
ASTHMA
OR IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY PREGNANT
