The
PADI Staff Instructor course qualifies the PADI professional
to become involved in the training of PADI Instructors and
as such is an extremely gratifying experience. It is also
one of the quickest and easiest routes towards becoming a
PADI Master Instructor.

Administrative
Requirements:
Provide
proof of current teaching status with PADI.(Ask your PADI
local area office for written proof to this effect if you
do not have a decal on your Instructor card indicating your
current status.)
Provide photocopies of the following certification cards
(front and back): PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor; PADI
Master Scuba Diver Trainer. (Wall Certificates are not acceptable)
Provide
4 passport size photographs
Provide
current medical certificate
Bring
current log book(s) to record all diving activities
Equipment
Requirements:
Mask,
fins and snorkel
Full set of SCUBA equipment, including:
B.C.D.
regulator
with alternate air source and submersible pressure gauge
wetsuit
underwater timing device
depth gauge
knife, compass
emergency signalling devices (whistle and safety sausage)
weightbelt.
Underwater
slate(s) and pencils.
[Tanks,
weights and air fills will be provided by us at no extra charge].
Included
in the Course Fee:

days personal tuition from the Course Director, followed
by a full audit of an entire IDC (10 days)
Pool use, including weights, tanks and all air fills.
Consultation
and remedial training.

boat fees for open water training.

PADI IDC Staff Instructor certification card.

How
to prepare for the course:
Book
early to avoid disappointment: 20 % to secure a place and
balance 21 days before course date.
Obtain all required course materials. Order directly from
PADI or through Deep Sea Divers Den.
Undergo Medical Examination to Australian Standard as 4005.1
Ensure
you meet Administrative Requirements as listed above.
Revise the Diving Knowledge Workbook in conjunction with
the Encyclopaedia for theoretical preparation. [You will
be subjected to five theory exams of twenty questions each
in the areas of Physics; Physiology; Equipment; General
Skills and Environment; Recreational Dive Planner]
Practice all PADI Open Water Diver Course skills to demonstration
quality.[ You will undergo a full PADI Skill Evaluation
Circuit as part of the course]
Review PADI Standards and ensure your PADI Instructor Manual
is up to date with all the relevant changes as advised through
the quarterly Training Bulletins. [ You will sit an open-book
Standards Exam during the first two days of the Course].
Prepare an Academic microteaching presentation (IDC-style)
of a topic of your choice (no "Equipment" MLG's
allowed). This presentation will be evaluated by the Course
Director (but not in front of IDC Candidates).
Prepare a Confined Water presentation (IDC-style) of a skill
of your choice. This presentation will be evaluated by the
Course Director (but not in front of IDC Candidates).
